NL: Het Duitse luxe-expeditiecruiseschip MS HANSEATIC nature sloot op 8 oktober het zeecruiseseizoen voor 2026 in Antwerpen af. Met 24 aanlopen deden we het dit jaar net iets beter dan in 2023 en 2024. We blikken ook al vooruit naar de schepen die Antwerpen in 2027 zullen bezoeken.
EN: The German luxury expedition cruise ship MS
HANSEATIC nature closes the 2026 sea cruise season in Antwerp on 8 October.
With 24 port calls, we performed slightly better this year than in 2023 and 2024.
We are also already looking ahead to the ships that will visit Antwerp in 2027.
NL: MS HANSEATIC nature lag op 8 oktober 2026 voor de tweede keer aangemeerd aan het cruiseponton in Antwerpen. Het 139-meter lange schip is deel van de vloot van de Duitse luxerederij Hapag-Lloyd Cruises en is één van drie zusterschepen. MS HANSEATIC spirit lag op 21 mei nog in Antwerpen en MS HANSEATIC inspiration startte in 2019 haar ‘Maiden Voyage’ of allereerste cruise vanuit onze stad.
MS HANSEATIC nature kwam in 2019
in de vaart en werd gebouwd met IJsklasse PC6, wat betekend dat het schip in de
zomer- en herfstmaanden door eenjarig ijs met een dikte tussen 70 en 120 cm kan
varen. Het schip is zo ontworpen dat het gemakkelijk kan opereren in Arctische-
en Antarctische wateren, maar ook de tropische gebieden vormen deel van het
vaargebied.
EN: On 8 October 2026, MS HANSEATIC nature docked
at the cruise ponton in Antwerp for the second time. The 139-metre-long ship is
part of the fleet of the German luxury cruise line Hapag-Lloyd Cruises and is
one of three sister ships. MS HANSEATIC spirit was last in Antwerp on 21 May of
this years, and the MS HANSEATIC inspiration set sail on its ‘Maiden Voyage’ –
its very first cruise – from our city in 2019.
MS HANSEATIC nature entered service in 2019 and
was built to Ice Class PC6, which means that during the summer and autumn
months, the ship can navigate through first-year ice with a thickness of
between 70 and 120 cm. The ship is designed to operate easily in Arctic and
Antarctic waters, but tropical regions also form part of its operating area.
Seizoen met ‘speciallekes’
/ Season with a few surprises
NL: In totaal vonden er dit jaar 24 zeecruiseaanlopen plaats door 17 verschillende schepen die samen goed waren voor 42 ligdagen. Bij 14 aanlopen bleef het schip overnachten. Tegenover 2025, met slechts 15 aanlopen, is het een grote stijging. We doen dit jaar iets beter als de jaren 2023 en 2024 die beiden goed waren voor 23 aanlopen. Het riviercruiseseizoen van 2026 blijft zoals gewoonlijk nog doorgaan tot de jaarwisseling en stevent af op een absoluut record. Door de extreem lage waterstanden op de Rijn en Donau werden er al meer dan 200 extra aanlopen aangevraagd en zullen we ver boven de 1000 riviercruiseaanlopen gaan. MS A-Rosa Sena had de eer om eind september als 1000 riviercruiseschip van 2026 gevierd te worden.
EN: In total, there were 24 sea cruise calls this
year by 17 different ships, which together accounted for 42 port days. The
ships stayed overnight on 14 of these calls. Compared with 2025, which saw only 15 calls,
this represents a significant increase. We are performing slightly better this
year than in 2023 and 2024, both of which saw 23 calls. As usual, the 2026
river cruise season will continue until the turn of the year and is on course
to greatly exceed its previous record. Due to the extremely low water levels on
the Rhine and Danube, more than 200 additional calls have already been
requested, and we are set to greatly exceed 1,000 river cruise calls – a first
for Antwerp. The MS A-Rosa Sena had the honour of being celebrated at the end
of September as the 1,000th river cruise ship of 2026.
NL: Naast de Maiden
Calls van MS Renaissance, MS SeaDream II en MS Silver Spirit waren er ook twee
aanlopen die niet zoals gebruikelijk verliepen. Bij de opening van het seizoen begin
april moest MS Ambition vlak na haar vertrek nog terugdraaien door een groot
olielek in het Deurganckdok in de Antwerpse haven. Begin september kregen we
dan weer de ongeplande dubbele aanloop van Le Champlain en MS Deutschland. Door
verschillende omstandigheden, waaronder storm op zee, kwamen beide schepen
samen in Antwerpen te liggen. Le Champlain verhaalde hierbij naar kaai S10 in
het Zuiden van de stad, waar tot dan toe nog nooit eerder een zeecruiseschip
had aangemeerd.
Normaal gezien zouden er in
december nog twee cruiseaanlopen plaatsvinden. Die moesten echter geannuleerd
worden voor de werken aan het nieuwe ‘Ponton Van Dijck’ voor De Waterbus en
Sint-Anna-ferry. Het huidige Ponton Van Dijck aan het Steenplein moet verlegd
worden en zal vastgemaakt worden aan het cruiseponton, zoals dat enkele jaren
geleden ook al gedaan werd. Op die manier blijft de watermobiliteit
beschikbaar, maar kunnen er tijdelijk geen zeecruiseschepen meer aanmeren. Eind
april 2027 zullen de werken klaar zijn en zal het nieuwe ponton aan het
Steenplein in gebruik genomen worden.
EN: As well as the maiden calls of MS Renaissance,
SeaDream II and MS Silver Spirit, there were also two port calls that did not
go as originally planned. At the start of the season in early April, MS
Ambition was forced to turn back shortly after setting sail due to a major oil
spill in the Deurganckdok in the Port of Antwerp. In early September, we then
witnessed the unplanned double call of Le Champlain and MS Deutschland. Due to
various circumstances, including a storm at sea, both ships ended up docked in
Antwerp at the same time. Le Champlain docked at Quay S10 in the south of the
city, where no ocean-going cruise ship had ever moored before.
Normally, two more cruise calls would have
taken place in December. However, these had to be cancelled due to the
construction work on the new ‘Ponton Van Dijck’ for De Waterbus and the
Sint-Anna ferry. The current Ponton Van Dijck at the Steenplein is to be relocated
and will be attached to the cruise pontoon, as was also done several years ago.
This will ensure that water transport remains available, although ocean-going
cruise ships will temporarily be unable to dock. The works are due to be
completed by the end of April 2027, when the new pontoon at Steenplein will be
put into service.
Vooruitblik naar 2027
NL: Voor het
zeecruiseseizoen voor 2027 staan er momenteel 24 aanlopen gepland. Die cruises
zullen gevaren worden door 12 verschillende schepen. Dat betekent dat
verschillende schepen meerdere keren naar Antwerpen zullen komen. Eé van die
schepen is MS Star Pride met 4 aanlopen. Ook in 2026 kwam het schip al
verschillende keren naar de stad.
Ook Grand Circle Cruise Line verhoogd
haar aantal aanlopen en stuurt naast MS Clio ook MS Corinthian opnieuw richting
Antwerpen. Het enige schip dat voor de eerst keer zal langskomen is MS SeaDream
I, het zusterschip van MS SeaDream II dat in 2026 voor de eerste keer in
Antwerpen lag. Zoals altijd is deze info onder voorbehoud en kunnen er steeds
wijzigingen optreden.

Antwerpen 2027
EN: There are currently 24 port calls scheduled for
the 2027 cruise season. These cruises will be operated by 12 different ships.
This means that several ships will call at Antwerp multiple times. One of these
ships is MS Star Pride, with four port calls. The ship also visited the city
several times in 2026.
Grand Circle Cruise Line is also increasing its
number of calls and, in addition to MS Clio, is once again sending MS
Corinthian to Antwerp. The only ship making a Maiden Call is MS SeaDream I, the
sister ship of MS SeaDream II, which called at Antwerp for the first time in
