NL: Het 231 meter lange cruiseschip MS Artania van de Duitse rederij Phoenix
Reisen meerde op 19 december rond 08:00u aan in Antwerpen. Door de hevige wind
werd besloten om het geplande vertrek om 17:00u met een volledige dag op te
schuiven. De aanloop in Amsterdam verviel daardoor en het werd daarmee een
cruise Hamburg-Antwerpen-Hamburg. Hierdoor werd het cruiseseizoen in Antwerpen
met één extra dag verlengt.
Op 9 december lag het schip ook al in Antwerpen. MS Artania was toen bezig
aan haar eerste cruise na haar gepland werfbezoek bij de Lloyd-Werft in
Bremerhaven. Het schip kreeg een opknapbeurt voor maar liefst 20 miljoen euro.
Naast de gebruikelijk zaken, zoals het vervangen van het tapijt, werden er ook
verschillende cabines met een balkon uitgerust en werden enkele restaurants
opnieuw ingericht. Er werden ook vier tenderboten vervangen door types met
milieuvriendelijkere motoren.

Reisen docked in Antwerp on 19 December around 08:00h. Due to strong winds, it
was decided to postpone the scheduled departure at 17:00h by a full day. The
Amsterdam call was therefore dropped and it became a cruise Hamburg-Antwerp-Hamburg.
This extended the cruise season in Antwerp by one extra day.
On 9 December, the ship was also visited Antwerp. MS Artania was then sailing
her first cruise after her planned shipyard visit at the Lloyd-Werft in
Bremerhaven. The ship received a refurbishment of no less than €20 million.
Besides the usual things, such as carpet replacement, several cabins were
fitted with balconies and some restaurants were redecorated. Four tender boats
were also replaced with types with more environmentally friendly engines.
Wereldcruise / World Cruise
NL: Wanneer MS Artania op 22 december terug aankomt in Hamburg maakt het schip
zich meteen klaar om diezelfde dag nog te vertrekken op haar, tot nu toe,
langste wereldcruise bij Phoenix Reisen van 162 dagen. Het schip zal vanuit
Hamburg richting Noord-Afrika varen waarna het oversteekt naar Zuid-Amerika en
via Ushuaia doorvaart naar Polynesië, Nieuw-Zeeland en Australië. Daarna gaat
de reis verder via Indonesië en Maleisië naar het eiland Réunion, bij Madagaskar.
De volgende haven is Kaapstad waarna MS Artania de westkust van Afrika afvaart
om uiteindelijk de wereldcruise op 2 juni 2025 te eindigen in Gran Canaria.

immediately prepare to depart the same day on her, so far, longest world cruise
with Phoenix Reisen of 162 days. The ship will sail from Hamburg towards North

stak het coronavirus daar een stokje voor. Tussen 2020 en 2022 stond het schip
maar liefst 9 keer op de planning, maar al die aanlopen moesten om Covid-gerelateerde
redenen afgezegd worden. Sindsdien is het schip niet meer tot in Antwerpen geraakt,
tot nu.
Op 17 december
kwam MS Balmoral rond 17:00u aan in Antwerpen tijdens één van haar kerstcruises
voor een overnachting. Het was de eerste cruise van het schip na het werfbezoek
bij A&P Falmouth in de gelijknamige Engelse havenstad. Tijdens een periode
van bijna twee weken namen 700 personen deel aan de opknapbeurt van het schip. Onder
andere al het tapijt werd vervangen, één van de restaurants werd opgefrist en
er werd in de Neptune Lounge – de plaats voor het entertainment aan boord – een
grote LED-wand geïnstalleerd.
Het schip vertrok
op 14 december van Falmouth richting Southampton. Daar kwam het schip aan in de
ochtend van 16 december waarna het de eerste nieuwe passagiers aan boord nam.
Vanuit Engeland zette MS Balmoral koers naar Antwerpen, waar het schip bleef
overnachten. Van hieruit ging het verder richting Rouen in Frankrijk, waarna de
Kerstcruise zal eindigen in Southampton.
Het was de 21
keer dat MS Balmoral te gast was in Antwerpen. Ook voor 2025 staat het schip
terug op de planning. Dit keer met 2 aanlopen.

for an overnight stay. It was the ship's first cruise after its shipyard visit
at A&P Falmouth in the English port town of the same name. During a period
of almost two weeks, 700 people took part in the refurbishment of the ship.
Among other things, all the carpet was replaced, one of the restaurants was
refreshed and a large LED wall was installed in the Neptune Lounge - the place
for entertainment on board.
The ship left
Falmouth for Southampton on 14 December. There, the ship arrived on the morning
of 16 December after which the first new passengers embarked. From England, MS
Balmoral set course for Antwerp, where the ship stayed overnight. From there,
it continued towards Rouen in France, after which the Christmas cruise will end
in Southampton.

Balmoral's 21st visit in the city of Antwerp. The ship is also scheduled back
for 2025. This time with 2 calls.

cruise starting and ending at Tilbury in England. Along the way, the ship

Doggerbank Windmolens / Wind Turbines
NL: Regelmatig kan
je langs de Scheldekaaien een ponton voorbij zijn varen met daarop grote gele
constructies. Dit zijn onderdelen van nieuwe windmolens. Ze worden gebouwd op
de site van de voormalige Cockerill Scheepswerf in Hoboken. Smulders Projects
bouwt er sinds 2001 aan onderdelen voor windmolenparken en waren daarmee ook
pioniers in hun marktonderdeel.
De gele constructies zijn stukken
die op de funderingen van de windmolens geplaatst worden op zee, waarbij de
bovenkant boven water blijft. Hier bovenop wordt dan de rest windmolen
geplaatst.
Op 14 december kwamen, vlak na
het zwaaimanoeuvre van MS Ambition, opnieuw enkele windmolenonderdelen voorbij
gevaren aan het Steenplein. De sleepboot Multratug 22 trok het beladen ponton
voort. De lading is bestemd voor de Maasvlakte in Rotterdam. Van daaruit worden
ze per schip vervoert naar de Doggerbank voor de kust van Engeland.
Sinds 2022 wordt 125km voor de
Oostkust van Engeland gewerkt aan het grootste offshore windmolenpark ter
wereld. De Doggerbank Wind Farm bestaat uit drie delen: Dogger Bank A, B en C. Verdeeld
over de drie delen zullen respectievelijk 95, 95 en 87 windmolens staan van
maar liefst 260 meter hoog en met wieken van 107 meter lang. Als alle
windmolens er staan in 2027 zullen ze elektriciteit leveren voor 6 miljoen
gezinnen in het Verenigd Koninkrijk.

regularly see a pontoon sailing past along the Scheldt quays with large yellow
constructions on it. These are parts of new wind turbines. They are built on
the site of the former Cockerill Shipyard in Hoboken. Smulders Projects has

The yellow structures are pieces
that are placed on the foundations of the wind turbines at sea, with the top

On 14 December, just after MS
Ambition's swinging manoeuvre, some wind turbine parts again sailed by at the Steenplein.
The tug Multratug 22 was pulling the loaded pontoon. The cargo is heading for
the Maasvlakte in Rotterdam. From there, they will be transported by ship to the
Doggerbank off the coast of England.
Since 2022, 125km off the east
coast of England, the world's largest offshore wind farm has been under
construction. The Doggerbank Wind Farm consists of three parts: Dogger Bank A,
B and C. Divided into the three parts, there will be 95, 95 and 87 wind turbines
installed, respectively. They are all 260 metres high and have blades of 107
metres long. When all the wind turbines are installed in 2027, they will
provide electricity for 6 million families in the UK.

NL: Het 231 meter lange cruiseschip MS Artania van de Duitse rederij Phoenix
Reisen meerde op 19 december rond 08:00u aan in Antwerpen. Door de hevige wind
werd besloten om het geplande vertrek om 17:00u met een volledige dag op te
schuiven. De aanloop in Amsterdam verviel daardoor en het werd daarmee een
cruise Hamburg-Antwerpen-Hamburg. Hierdoor werd het cruiseseizoen in Antwerpen
met één extra dag verlengt.
Op 9 december lag het schip ook al in Antwerpen. MS Artania was toen bezig
aan haar eerste cruise na haar gepland werfbezoek bij de Lloyd-Werft in
Bremerhaven. Het schip kreeg een opknapbeurt voor maar liefst 20 miljoen euro.
Naast de gebruikelijk zaken, zoals het vervangen van het tapijt, werden er ook
verschillende cabines met een balkon uitgerust en werden enkele restaurants
opnieuw ingericht. Er werden ook vier tenderboten vervangen door types met
milieuvriendelijkere motoren.

Reisen docked in Antwerp on 19 December around 08:00h. Due to strong winds, it
was decided to postpone the scheduled departure at 17:00h by a full day. The
Amsterdam call was therefore dropped and it became a cruise Hamburg-Antwerp-Hamburg.
This extended the cruise season in Antwerp by one extra day.
On 9 December, the ship was also visited Antwerp. MS Artania was then sailing
her first cruise after her planned shipyard visit at the Lloyd-Werft in
Bremerhaven. The ship received a refurbishment of no less than €20 million.
Besides the usual things, such as carpet replacement, several cabins were
fitted with balconies and some restaurants were redecorated. Four tender boats
were also replaced with types with more environmentally friendly engines.
Wereldcruise / World Cruise
NL: Wanneer MS Artania op 22 december terug aankomt in Hamburg maakt het schip
zich meteen klaar om diezelfde dag nog te vertrekken op haar, tot nu toe,
langste wereldcruise bij Phoenix Reisen van 162 dagen. Het schip zal vanuit
Hamburg richting Noord-Afrika varen waarna het oversteekt naar Zuid-Amerika en
via Ushuaia doorvaart naar Polynesië, Nieuw-Zeeland en Australië. Daarna gaat
de reis verder via Indonesië en Maleisië naar het eiland Réunion, bij Madagaskar.
De volgende haven is Kaapstad waarna MS Artania de westkust van Afrika afvaart
om uiteindelijk de wereldcruise op 2 juni 2025 te eindigen in Gran Canaria.
EN: When MS Artania arrives back in Hamburg on 22 December, the ship will
immediately prepare to depart the same day on her, so far, longest world cruise
with Phoenix Reisen of 162 days. The ship will sail from Hamburg towards North
Africa before crossing to South America and continuing via Ushuaia to
Polynesia, New Zealand and Australia. It will then continue via Indonesia and

NL: Het cruiseschip MS Balmoral van de Engelse
rederij Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines lag op 17 & 18 december 2024 opnieuw in
Antwerpen. Het schip kwam net uit het droogdok en het was ook sinds 2019
geleden dat het schip nog in Antwerpen lag.

English cruise line Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines was again in Antwerp on 17 &
18 December 2024. The ship had just come out of dry dock and it was the first
visit in Antwerp since 2019.
NL:MS Balmoral is sinds 2009 een vaste waarde in
Antwerpen. Sinds de overname van het schip door Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines in
2008 lag het schip bijna elk jaar meerdere keren in Antwerpen. Maar in 2020
stak het coronavirus daar een stokje voor. Tussen 2020 en 2022 stond het schip
maar liefst 9 keer op de planning, maar al die aanlopen moesten om Covid-gerelateerde
redenen afgezegd worden. Sindsdien is het schip niet meer tot in Antwerpen geraakt,
tot nu.
Op 17 december
kwam MS Balmoral rond 17:00u aan in Antwerpen tijdens één van haar kerstcruises
voor een overnachting. Het was de eerste cruise van het schip na het werfbezoek
bij A&P Falmouth in de gelijknamige Engelse havenstad. Tijdens een periode
van bijna twee weken namen 700 personen deel aan de opknapbeurt van het schip. Onder
andere al het tapijt werd vervangen, één van de restaurants werd opgefrist en
er werd in de Neptune Lounge – de plaats voor het entertainment aan boord – een
grote LED-wand geïnstalleerd.
Het schip vertrok
op 14 december van Falmouth richting Southampton. Daar kwam het schip aan in de
ochtend van 16 december waarna het de eerste nieuwe passagiers aan boord nam.
Vanuit Engeland zette MS Balmoral koers naar Antwerpen, waar het schip bleef
overnachten. Van hieruit ging het verder richting Rouen in Frankrijk, waarna de
Kerstcruise zal eindigen in Southampton.
Het was de 21
keer dat MS Balmoral te gast was in Antwerpen. Ook voor 2025 staat het schip
terug op de planning. Dit keer met 2 aanlopen.
EN: MS Balmoral has been a fixture in Antwerp
since 2009. Since the ship was taken over by Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines in 2008, it
has been in Antwerp several times almost every year. But in 2020, coronavirus
put a stop to that. Between 2020 and 2022, the ship was scheduled no less than
nine times, but all those calls had to be cancelled for Covid-related reasons.
Since then, the ship has not made it to Antwerp, until now.
On 17 December,
MS Balmoral arrived in Antwerp around 17:00h on one of her Christmas cruises
for an overnight stay. It was the ship's first cruise after its shipyard visit
at A&P Falmouth in the English port town of the same name. During a period
of almost two weeks, 700 people took part in the refurbishment of the ship.
Among other things, all the carpet was replaced, one of the restaurants was
refreshed and a large LED wall was installed in the Neptune Lounge - the place
for entertainment on board.
The ship left
Falmouth for Southampton on 14 December. There, the ship arrived on the morning
of 16 December after which the first new passengers embarked. From England, MS
Balmoral set course for Antwerp, where the ship stayed overnight. From there,
it continued towards Rouen in France, after which the Christmas cruise will end
in Southampton.
It was MS
Balmoral's 21st visit in the city of Antwerp. The ship is also scheduled back
for 2025. This time with 2 calls.
NL: MS Ambition kwam op
14 december 2024 tijdens een Kerstcruise naar Antwerpen. Tijdens de aankomst
werd het schip voorbijgevaren door onderdelen voor het windmolenpark Doggerbank
in de Noordzee.

de Engelse rederij Ambassador Cruise Line kwam op 14 december voor de vierde en
laatste keer in 2024 naar Antwerpen. Het schip bezocht de stad tijdens een
7-daagse kerstcruise met als begin- en eindbestemming Tilbury in Engeland.
Onderweg bezocht het schip Amsterdam, Antwerpen, Rouen en Honfleur.
MS Ambition werd in 1999 gebouwd
als MS Mistral voor Festival Cruises. Na hun faillissement veranderde het schip
enkele keren van eigenaar, waarna het in 2023 werd overgenomen door Ambassador
Cruise Line. Het schip heeft een lengte van 216 meter en heeft plaats voor 1700
passagiers.

English company Ambassador Cruise Line came to Antwerp for the fourth and last
time in 2024 on 14 December. The ship visited the city on a 7-day Christmas
cruise starting and ending at Tilbury in England. Along the way, the ship
visited Amsterdam, Antwerp, Rouen and Honfleur.
MS Ambition was built in 1999 as
MS Mistral for Festival Cruises. After their bankruptcy, the ship changed hands
several times before being taken over by Ambassador Cruise Line in 2023. The
ship has a length of 216 metres and can accommodate 1,700 passengers.
Doggerbank Windmolens / Wind Turbines
NL: Regelmatig kan
je langs de Scheldekaaien een ponton voorbij zijn varen met daarop grote gele
constructies. Dit zijn onderdelen van nieuwe windmolens. Ze worden gebouwd op
de site van de voormalige Cockerill Scheepswerf in Hoboken. Smulders Projects
bouwt er sinds 2001 aan onderdelen voor windmolenparken en waren daarmee ook
pioniers in hun marktonderdeel.
De gele constructies zijn stukken
die op de funderingen van de windmolens geplaatst worden op zee, waarbij de
bovenkant boven water blijft. Hier bovenop wordt dan de rest windmolen
geplaatst.
Op 14 december kwamen, vlak na
het zwaaimanoeuvre van MS Ambition, opnieuw enkele windmolenonderdelen voorbij
gevaren aan het Steenplein. De sleepboot Multratug 22 trok het beladen ponton
voort. De lading is bestemd voor de Maasvlakte in Rotterdam. Van daaruit worden
ze per schip vervoert naar de Doggerbank voor de kust van Engeland.
Sinds 2022 wordt 125km voor de
Oostkust van Engeland gewerkt aan het grootste offshore windmolenpark ter
wereld. De Doggerbank Wind Farm bestaat uit drie delen: Dogger Bank A, B en C. Verdeeld
over de drie delen zullen respectievelijk 95, 95 en 87 windmolens staan van
maar liefst 260 meter hoog en met wieken van 107 meter lang. Als alle
windmolens er staan in 2027 zullen ze elektriciteit leveren voor 6 miljoen
gezinnen in het Verenigd Koninkrijk.

regularly see a pontoon sailing past along the Scheldt quays with large yellow
constructions on it. These are parts of new wind turbines. They are built on
the site of the former Cockerill Shipyard in Hoboken. Smulders Projects has
been building parts for wind farms there since 2001, making them pioneers in
their market section.
The yellow structures are pieces
that are placed on the foundations of the wind turbines at sea, with the top
remaining above water. On top of this, the rest wind turbine is installed.
On 14 December, just after MS
Ambition's swinging manoeuvre, some wind turbine parts again sailed by at the Steenplein.
The tug Multratug 22 was pulling the loaded pontoon. The cargo is heading for
the Maasvlakte in Rotterdam. From there, they will be transported by ship to the
Doggerbank off the coast of England.
Since 2022, 125km off the east
coast of England, the world's largest offshore wind farm has been under
construction. The Doggerbank Wind Farm consists of three parts: Dogger Bank A,
B and C. Divided into the three parts, there will be 95, 95 and 87 wind turbines
installed, respectively. They are all 260 metres high and have blades of 107
metres long. When all the wind turbines are installed in 2027, they will
provide electricity for 6 million families in the UK.
