NL: Het jaar is weer bijna voorbij en dat betekent traditioneel
ook het einde van het cruiseseizoen in Antwerpen. Na 29 zeecruiseaanlopen sloot
het cruiseschip MS Black Watch van de Britse rederij Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines op
19 en 20 december het seizoen af in de Scheldestad tijdens een kerstcruise.
EN: The year is almost over again and traditionally that also means the end
of the cruise season in Antwerp. After 29 sea cruise calls the cruise ship MS
Black Watch of the British company Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines closed the season
on 19 & 20 December during a Christmas cruise.
NL: Na vijf jaar lag het cruiseschip MS Black Watch van de Britse
rederij Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines op 19 en 20 december 2017 opnieuw aangemeerd
in Antwerpen. Het schip bezocht de stad tijdens de laatste kerstcruise voor dit
jaar en sloot daarmee ook het cruiseseizoen van 2017 in de Scheldestad af. Het
was één van drie kerstcruises die naar de stad kwamen tijdens de maand
december.
In totaal mocht
Antwerpen dit jaar 17 verschillende zeecruiseschepen ontvangen die in totaal 29
aanlopen hebben gedaan. Dat is een stijging van 7 aanlopen tegenover vorig
jaar. Wat opvalt is dat het aantal ligdagen in verhouding tot vorig jaar veel
hoger lag: 42 in totaal. Dat komt omdat verschillende rederijen ervoor kozen om
hun schepen te laten overnachten in de stad. Zo kunnen de passagiers ook
kennismaken met de sfeer in de stad na zonsondergang, iets wat de Stad
Antwerpen actief promoot bij de rederijen. Het cruiseseizoen van 2017 bracht in
totaal iets meer dan 27.000 passagiers naar de Scheldestad.
EN: After five years the cruise ship MS
Black Watch of the British company Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines was once again
docked in Antwerp on 19 and 20 December 2017. The ship visited the city during
the last Christmas cruise of the year and closed the cruise season of 2017 in
the city. It was one of three Christmas cruises that visited Antwerp during
December.
This year a total of 17 different sea cruise
ships visited Antwerp for a total of 29 cruise calls. This is an increase of 7
calls compared to last year. Interesting is that the number of lay days is much
higher compared to last year: 42 in total. The is due to the fact that several
cruise lines choose to keep their ships overnight in the city. That way the
passengers can also get a feel of the atmosphere in Antwerp after sunset. This
is something that the City of Antwerp actively promotes. In total the cruise
season of 2017 brought a little over 27.000 passengers to the city.
Een kijkje naar 2018 – A look at 2018
NL: Ook voor 2018 ziet het
ernaar uit dat het een goed cruiseseizoen zal worden. Momenteel staan er al 25 aanlopen
van zeecruiseschepen gepland en daar kunnen er nog altijd bijkomen. Net als dit
jaar worden er ook in 2018 verschillende ‘maiden calls’ verwacht. Dat zijn
schepen die voor de allereerste keer naar Antwerpen komen.
