NL: Het
klassieke cruiseschip MS Marco Polo van de Engelse rederij Cruise &
Maritime Voyages lag op 3 en 4 juni 2019 opnieuw aangemeerd in Antwerpen. Het
schip bezocht Antwerpen tijdens een speciale themacruise. Het is dit jaar
namelijk de 75ste verjaardag van D-Day.
MS Marco Polo voer de cruise van Portsmouth in Het Verenigd
Koninkrijk naar Antwerpen, waar het schip overnachtte, om daarna door te varen
richting Honfleur in Frankrijk. Vanuit Honfleur zal MS Marco Polo op 6 juni
langs de kust van Normandië varen waarbij er aan boord een ceremonie zal
plaatsvinden om de gesneuvelden te herdenken die 75 jaar geleden tijdens D-Day
het leven lieten. Daarna zet het schip haar reis voor richting Rouen, waarbij
het de Seine opvaart, om uiteindelijk terug richting Portsmouth te varen waar
de cruise eindigt.

EN: The classic cruise ship MS Marco Polo of the
English company Cruise & Maritime Voyages was again docked in Antwerp on 3
& 4 June 2019. The ship visited the city during a special theme cruise.
This year it is the 75th anniversary of D-Day.
MS Marco
Polo sailed the cruise from Portsmouth in the United Kingdom to Antwerp, where
the ship stayed overnight, and later sailing on to Honfleur in France. From
Honfleur MS Marco Polo sailed along the coast of Normandy where a ceremony was
held on board to commemorate those who have been fallen during D-Day 75 years
ago. Afterwards the ship set course to Rouen, where it sailed onto the river
Seine after which the ship would return to Portsmouth again where the cruise
ends.
