Adventskalenderspel - Advent Calendar Game 2013

We naderen de eindejaarsfeesten, en hier horen volgens de traditie ook cadeautjes bij. Deze traditie willen we bij Cruiseschepen in Antwerpen natuurlijk niet verbreken. Daarom organiseren we dit jaar een speciaal Adventsspel om af te tellen naar deze feestperiode.

Van 1 tot en met 24 december 2013 zal op onze adventskalender elke dag een hokje vrijgegeven worden. Door hierop te klikken zal zich een scherm openen waarin u een letter, of tip zal vinden. Door alle letters en tips samen te leggen kan je de namen vormen van 2 cruiseschepen die ooit in Antwerpen hebben gelegen. Als u alle letters en tips verzamelt hebt moet je enkel nog de letters in de juiste volgorde plaatsen zodat ze de juiste namen vormen.

Uit alle juiste inzendingen worden de 4 mensen gekozen die het dichtst bij het antwoord van de schiftingsvraag zaten. De vier winnaars krijgen elk een uniek prijzenpakket!

We are nearing the holiday season, and traditionally this includes giving presents. To keep up with this tradition Cruiseschepen in Antwerpen organizes a special advent game to count down to the holidays.

Every day, from the 1st of December until the 24th of December 2013, a box will be made available on the Advent calendar. By clicking on the box a screen will pop-up with a letter or a clue. By collecting all the letters and clues you will be able to form 2 names of cruise ships that have been to Antwerp in the past. When you have all the letters you only have to puzzle them into the right order to form the two names.

From all correct entries we will pick those 4 people who answered the closest to the correct answer of the bonus question. These four winners will each get a unique prize package!

Boudicca collided with quay in Antwerp / Boudicca vaart tegen de kaai in Antwerpen

Nadat de aanloop van de Boudicca eerst was afgelast door dichte mist kwam ze deze morgen toch aan in Antwerpen. Het schip maakte zich om kwart voor twee op voor het vertrek en om stipt twee uur kwam ze los van de kaai. Alles ging goed tot dat ze begon aan het draaimanoeuvre.

Toen de Boudicca dwars over de Schelde lag, met haar boeg naar Linkeroever, kwam ze plotseling achteruit en raakte hierbij met haar achtersteven de kaaimuur. Gelukkig zat er tussen de kaai en schip nog een stootkussen dat het grootste deel van de klap heeft kunnen opvangen. Wel is er een stuk van de kaaimuur beschadigd en heeft het schip een deuk in de achtersteven. Iedereen op het schip, en op de kaai bleven ongedeerd.

Na de aanvaring manoeuvreerde de Boudicca naar het midden van de Schelde waar ze even stil bleef liggen, maar na enkele minuten zette ze zich opnieuw in beweging. Het schip heeft Antwerpen zonder verdere problemen verlaten en is zonder problemen aangekomen in Southampton.

After the call of the Boudicca had been cancelled yesterday due to thick fog, the ship arrived in Antwerp this morning. At quarter til two the ship prepared for departure, and at exactly two o'clock the ship casted off its last mooring. Everything went well until they started turning the ship arround.

As the Boudicca was positioned crosswise across the river, with her bow pointed to the left bank of the river, she suddenly backed-up and hit the quayside with her aft. Luckily an air cushion positioned between the quay and the ship prevented her from ramming the quay too hard. Though she still shattered a part of the quay and left herselve a dent at the aft. Everybody on the quayside, and onboard the ship escaped uninjured.

After the collision the Boudicca manoeuvred to the middle of the river where she laid still for a moment, but after a few minutes she started moving again. The ship left Antwerp without any other problems, and has safely arrived in Southampton.

'La Superba' Cancelled

De call van de (cruise)ferry 'La Superba' op 9 & 10 oktober 2013 is afgelast. Het schip moest normaal een cruise maken door West-Europa om Turkije te promoten in de Europese Unie. Dit zou gebeuren met een tentoonstelling aan boord. Waarom de cruise niet doorgaat is ongeweten.

The call of the (cruise)ferry 'La Superba' on the 9th and 10th of October 2013 has been cancelled. Normally the ship would sail a cruise through Western Europe to promote Turkey in the European Union. This would be done with an exhibition onboard the ship. Why the cruise was cancelled is not known.

MS Albatros in Antwerpen 2013

Op 2 oktober 2013 lag de Albatros van de Duitse rederij Phoenix Reisen in Antwerpen. Het schip werd in 1973 voor Royal Viking Line gebouwd in Finland als de Royal Viking Sea. Doorheen de jaren heeft het schip voor acht verschillende rederijen gevaren. In 2004 werd het schip dan verkocht aan Phoenix Reisen waar het gedoopt werd onder de naam 'Albatros'.

De Albatros heeft een lengte van 205 meter en kan 830 passagiers aan boord nemen.

On the 2nd of October the Albatros from the German cruise line Phoenix Reisen was docked in Antwerp. The ship was built in 1973 for Royal Viking Line in Finland as Royal Viking Sea. Throughout its carreer the ship has sailed for eight different cruise lines. In 2004 the ship was sold to Phoenix Reisen and was rechristened 'Albatros'.

Amadea & South-Korean Navy in Antwerp 2013

Op 18 september 2013 lag de Amadea van Phoenix Reisen in Antwerpen. Het schip werd in 1991 gebouwd bij de Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Nagasaki in Japan als de Asuka. In 2006 werd het schip verkocht aan Phoenix Reisen. De Amadea is 193 meter lang en kan 624 passagiers vervoeren.

Van 18 tot 20 september lagen er ook twee zeer bijzondere schepen aan Kaai 19. De Zuid-Koreaanse Marine zond 2 van hun schepen naar Antwerpen om België te bedanken voor de deelname in de Koreaanse Oorlog, dit jaar 60 jaar geleden. Het gaat om de 'Hwacheon', een Replenishment Oiler, en de 'Dae Jo-Yeong', een Destroyer.

From the 18th until the 20th of September two very special ships were docked at Quay 19. The South-Korean Navy sent 2 of their ships to Antwerp to thank Belgium for their participation in the Korean War, this year exactly 60 years ago. The ships are the 'Hwacheon', a Replenishment Oiler, and the 'Dae Jo-Yeong, a Destroyer.

Explorer & Astor in Antwerpen

Op 13 en 14 september 2013 lagen de MS Astor en de MV Explorer samen in Antwerpen. Het studentenschip Explorer lag al in Antwerpen van 10 september. Doordat ze langer in een haven aanmeren krijgen de studenten de mogelijkheid om de stad goed te leren kennen. Voor de Astor was het de maiden call in Antwerpen. Het schip van de Duitse rederij 'Transocean Tours' heeft een lengte van 176 meter en kan tot 650 passagiers vervoeren.

De MV Explorer lag aan Kaai 19 en de Astor lag aan de normale kaai aan de cruiseterminal. Op 14 september vertrokken beide schepen opnieuw uit Antwerpen.

On the 13th and 14th of September 2013 the MS Astor and MV Explorer were docked together in Antwerp. The student ship Explorer already arrived in Antwerp on the 10th of September. Thanks to the long stay the students are able to get to know the city. For the Astor it was its maiden call in Antwerp. The ship is part of the German cruise line ' Transocean Tours' and has a length of 176 meters and can accommodate up to 650 passengers.

The MV Explorer was docked at Quay 19, while the Astor was docked at the usual quay in front of the cruiseterminal. On the 14th of September both ships departed from Antwerp.

National Georgraphic Explorer in Antwerpen 2014

Volgend jaar in mei is in Antwerpen een zeer bijzonder schip te gast. De 'National Geographic Explorer' van 'National Geographic/Lindblad Expeditions' vaart een expeditiecruise langs de Nederlandse en Belgische kust waarbij het in België zowel Antwerpen, Gent als Oostende zal aandoen. In Nederland stop het schip in Texel, Harlingen, Den Helder en Amsterdam.

Het is sinds 2001 geleden dat er een schip van National Geographic/Lindblad Expeditions in Antwerpen heeft gelegen. Het zal ook de allereerste keer zijn dat de National Geographic Explorer naar onze stad komt.

Het schip staat gepland voor 9 mei 2014.

Next year Antwerp will welcome a very special ship. The 'National Geographic Explorer' from 'National Geographic/Lindblad Expeditions' sails an expedition cruise along the Dutch and Belgian coast with stops in Antwerp, Ghent and Ostend. In the Netherlands the ship calls at Texel, Den Helder, Harlingen and Amsterdam.

The  last time National Geographic/Lindblad Expeditions visited Antwerp was in 2001. It will be the first time that the National Geographic Explorer visits our city.

The ship is expected on the 9th of May 2014.
