Eerste cruiseschip voor 2014 - First cruise ship for 2014

Princess Cruises maakte enkele dagen geleden bekend dat ze in 2014 een stop in onze stad maken met hun 'Ocean Princess'. Dit schip van 181 meter lag in 2011 ook al eens in Antwerpen.

Deze call is de allereerste die bekend gemaakt werd voor het cruiseseizoen van 2014.

Princess Cruises announced a few days ago that they will return to Antwerp in 2012 with their 'Ocean Princess'. This 181 meter-long ship made also in 2011 a call in our city.

This call is the very first known for the season of 2014.

AIDAluna for the last time in Antwerpen

Op woensdag 2 mei lag de AIDAluna voor de allerlaatste keer in Antwerpen. Met deze call komt er na 3 jaar een einde aan de aanlopen van AIDA Cruises. Vanaf nu vervangen ze Antwerpen door Zeebrugge in hun reisschema. Hieronder zijn enkele foto's te vinden van de allerlaaste call van de AIDAluna.

AIDA Cruises in Antwerpen:

- AIDAsol: 2011
- AIDAcara: 2011
- AIDAluna: 2012

On wednesday 2th of mai the AIDAluna called for the last time at Antwerp. With this call there has come an end at 3 years of AIDA-calls. From now on AIDA Cruises replaces Antwerp with Zeebrugge in their itinerary. At the bottom of this article you will find some photos of the very last call of the AIDAluna.

Albatros in Antwerpen

Vandaag lag voor het eerste keer een schip van Phoenix Reisen in Antwerpen. De Albatros is 205 meter lang en is een zusterschip van de Boudicca en Black Watch van Fred Olsen Cruise Lines. Vroeger waren deze 3 schepen deel van de luxueuze vloot van Royal Viking Line.

Later dit jaar komt nog een ander schip van Phoenix Reisen langs in Antwerpen; de Amadea.

Today, for the first time in the history of Antwerp, there was a ship of Phoenix Reisen berthed in Antwerp. The Albatros is 205 meters long and is a sistership of the Boudicca and Black Watch from Fred Olsen Cruise Lines. In the past these 3 ships formed the fleet of the luxurious cruise line Royal Vinking Line.

This year another ship of Phoenix Reisen is calling at Antwerp; the Amadea

Het Cruiseschepen in Antwerpen-team

MSC Lirica on her Maiden Call in Antwerpen

Gisteren meerde er voor het eerst in de geschiedenis van Antwerpen een schip van MSC Cruises aan aan de cruiseterminal namelijk de MSC Lirica. Voor Antwerp Cruise Port was deze call zeer belangrijk om de komende jaren MSC Cruises te zien terugkeren naar onze stad. Momenteel is het nog niet geweten of MSC zal terugkeren, maar er gingen al geruchten dat ze volgende jaren met één of meerdere schepen naar onze stad zouden willen komen.

De MSC Lirica is een relatief klein schip uit de vloot. Met 251 meter is ze dit jaar het 2de grootste cruiseschip dat Antwerpen aandoet. De Lirica biedt plaats aan 1560 passagiers. Voor het vertrek was een sleepboot gevraagd die een watergordijn de lucht in spoot tijdens het vertrek. Ook werden er ballonnen opgelaten en werd er confetti afgeschoten.

Het schip antwoordde op dit alles met een salvo van de scheepshoorn. Honderden mensen zwaaiden de passagiers uit van op het Zuiderterras en het Flandria-ponton.

Yesterday MSC Cruises berthed for the first time in the history of Antwerp at the cruise terminal with the MSC Lirica. For Antwerp Cruise Port this call was very important. They hope to see MSC Cruises returning in the next years. At this moment it is not sure if they are returning, but rumour has it that MSC Cruises will return next year with one or more ships.

The MSC Lirica is a relativly small ship of the fleet. With 251 meters it is the 2nd largest ship in Antwerp for this year. The Lirica can accomodate 1560 passengers. For the departure of the ship there was a tugboat ordered for spraying a watercurtain into the air. They also launched a lot of balloons and fired confetti.

The ship answered to that with a salvo of the ship horn. Hundreds of people waved the ship goodbye from the quay.

AIDAluna too early in Antwerp

De AIDAluna kwam gisteren onverwacht al om 20.00 uur aan in Antwerpen doordat het schip niet in Dover heeft kunnen aanmeren door storm in het Kanaal. Hierdoor bleef het schip in Antwerpen voor een overnight-call.

The AIDAluna arrived yesterday unexpected at 20.00 p.m. in Antwerp. The ship wasn't able to dock in Dover because of storm in the English Channel.  So the AIDAluna made an overnight-call.

AIDAluna opened cruise season 2012

De AIDAluna van AIDA Cruises heeft het cruiseseizoen 2012 van Antwerpen geopend. 's Morgens kwam het schip binnengevaren omgeven door mist. Na gedraaid te hebben voor de cruiseterminal meerde het schip aan. Er ontstond een discussie over het vastleggen van de afmeerlijnen maar als dit opgelost was lag het schip onder de stralende zon aan de Scheldekaai. Vorige jaren zijn er al verschillende schepen van AIDA Cruises in Antwerpen geweest. Namelijk de AIDAcara, AIDAblu en AIDAsol. Wie de AIDAblu of Sol vorige jaren gezien heeft zal zeggen dat de AIDAluna een exacte kopie is, maar dit is niet zo. Ook al lijkt het wel op het eerste zicht. De AIDAluna heeft één dek minder bovenaan en ook de achterkant is schuiner dan bij de andere schepen. Voor mensen die niet echt met schepen bezig zijn is dit natuurlijk niets heel speciaal.

Stipt om 18:00uur is het schip dan weer vertrokken richting Amsterdam. De volgende 5 weken komt het schip elke woensdag terug naar Antwerpen. Als u het schip met de mond en het oog nog wil zien in Antwerpen zijn dit u enige kansen. Dit zijn namelijk de allerlaatste calls van een schip van AIDA Cruises in Antwerpen!

Deze zondag meert het volgende cruiseschip trouwens al aan: de Marco Polo.

Ik weet dat het dan 1 april is maar het is geen grap!

The AIDAluna of AIDA Cruises has opened the cruise season 2012 of Antwerp. The ship arrived around 8a.m. surrounded by fog. After the ship had turned in front of the cruise terminal it berthed. There was a little discussion about the place where the lines would be attached but after this was solved the ship was bathing in the morning sun at the Scheldekaaien. In the last years several ships of AIDA Cruises have berthed in our city. The AIDAcara, AIDAblu and AIDAsol have already been in Antwerp.

At exactly 18 p.m the AIDAluna departed again heading for Amsterdam. The next 5 weeks the ship will be in Antwerp every wednesday.

This sunday the next cruise ship will be in Antwerp: the Marco Polo.
I know that it's the first of april but it's no joke!
