AIDAluna opened cruise season 2012

De AIDAluna van AIDA Cruises heeft het cruiseseizoen 2012 van Antwerpen geopend. 's Morgens kwam het schip binnengevaren omgeven door mist. Na gedraaid te hebben voor de cruiseterminal meerde het schip aan. Er ontstond een discussie over het vastleggen van de afmeerlijnen maar als dit opgelost was lag het schip onder de stralende zon aan de Scheldekaai. Vorige jaren zijn er al verschillende schepen van AIDA Cruises in Antwerpen geweest. Namelijk de AIDAcara, AIDAblu en AIDAsol. Wie de AIDAblu of Sol vorige jaren gezien heeft zal zeggen dat de AIDAluna een exacte kopie is, maar dit is niet zo. Ook al lijkt het wel op het eerste zicht. De AIDAluna heeft één dek minder bovenaan en ook de achterkant is schuiner dan bij de andere schepen. Voor mensen die niet echt met schepen bezig zijn is dit natuurlijk niets heel speciaal.

Stipt om 18:00uur is het schip dan weer vertrokken richting Amsterdam. De volgende 5 weken komt het schip elke woensdag terug naar Antwerpen. Als u het schip met de mond en het oog nog wil zien in Antwerpen zijn dit u enige kansen. Dit zijn namelijk de allerlaatste calls van een schip van AIDA Cruises in Antwerpen!

Deze zondag meert het volgende cruiseschip trouwens al aan: de Marco Polo.

Ik weet dat het dan 1 april is maar het is geen grap!

The AIDAluna of AIDA Cruises has opened the cruise season 2012 of Antwerp. The ship arrived around 8a.m. surrounded by fog. After the ship had turned in front of the cruise terminal it berthed. There was a little discussion about the place where the lines would be attached but after this was solved the ship was bathing in the morning sun at the Scheldekaaien. In the last years several ships of AIDA Cruises have berthed in our city. The AIDAcara, AIDAblu and AIDAsol have already been in Antwerp.

At exactly 18 p.m the AIDAluna departed again heading for Amsterdam. The next 5 weeks the ship will be in Antwerp every wednesday.

This sunday the next cruise ship will be in Antwerp: the Marco Polo.
I know that it's the first of april but it's no joke!

Seabourn is coming back!

In 2013 komt Seabourn eindelijk terug naar Antwerpen. De Seabourn Pride meert op 26 en 27 mei 2013 aan de cruisesterminal af. Het is van 2008 geleden dat een schip van Seabourn naar onze stad is gekomen.

In 2013 Seabourn is finally coming back to Antwerp. The Seabourn Pride berths on 26 & 27 mai 2013 at the cruiseterminal. The last Seabourn ship came to Antwerp in 2008.

Hapag Lloyd's Europa 2 is coming!

Vandaag werd bij Hapag Lloyd Cruises de catalogus voor hun allernieuwste schip 'MS Europa 2' gepubliceerd. Op 11 mei 2013 vertrekt dit schip op zijn allereerste cruise van Hamburg naar Lissabon. Drie dagen later, op 14 mei, meert het om 9 uur aan in Antwerpen. Het vertrek staat momenteel gepland om 19 uur. Deze call is zeer speciaal om verschillende redenen. 1.Het is de maiden voyage van het schip, 2.Het schip vaart door naar de Middellandse zee en Azië waar het zijn regulier cruiseschema gaat opnemen. De MS Europa 2 gaat dus een hele tijd niet meer gezien worden in Noord-Europa.
Op dit moment bestaat het schip nog niet. De STX France-werf in Saint-Nazaire heeft enkele weken geleden het allereerste bouwblok in het droogdok gelegd. Het schip zal net zoals zijn voorganger, de MS Europa, een ultra-luxueus cruiseschip worden. Met dit verschil dat de Europa 2 meer voor families ontworpen is. Met een lengte van 225 meter en een breedte van 26,70 meter is het schip een stuk groter dan de MS Europa. De MS Europa 2 heeft een capaciteit van 516 passagiers.

Today Hapag Lloyd Cruise published the catalogue of their newest ship, the 'MS Europa 2'. On the 11th of mai 2013 the ship departs on it's very first cruise from Hamburg to Lissabon. Three days later, on the 14th of mai, it will berth at 9 a.m. in Antwerp. The departure is planned at 19 p.m. This call is very special for multiple reasons. 1. It's the maiden voyage of the ship, 2.The ship will sail to the Mediterranean and Asia where it will pick up the regular cruise scheme. The MS Europa 2 will be gone from Nothern Europe for a long time.
At this moment the ship itselve does not yet exist. The STX France-yard in Saint-Nazaire has lowered the first building block in the drydock a few weeks ago. The ship will , like its predecessor MS Europa, be an ultra-luxurious cruise ship. The only difference is that the Europa 2 is designed for family-cruising. With a length of 225 meter and a beam of 26,70 meters the ship is bigger than the MS Europa. The MS Europa 2 has a passenger capacity of 516.

Cruiseseizoen 2012 voor de deur / Cruise season almost starting

Over net iets meer dan 10 dagen gaat het cruiseseizoen 2012 voor Antwerpen van start. Net als de vorige twee jaren opent een schip van AIDA Cruises het seizoen. Dit jaar is het de beurt aan de AIDAluna. Met een lengte van 252 meter, is het ook meteen het grootste schip voor dit jaar. De Luna komt vanaf woensdag 28 maart om de week naar Antwerpen, en dit 6 keer. Mis deze calls niet want dit zijn de laatste calls van een schip van AIDA Cruises voor de komende jaren. AIDA Cruise heeft besloten uit te wijken naar de haven van Zeebrugge. 

Oorspronkelijk stonden er op de lijst met cruisecalls voor 2012 ook nog 4 calls van de AIDAmar, maar deze gaan niet door. Maar er is ook goed nieuws. Eerst zou het cruiseseizoen al stoppen in oktober, maar Cruise & Maritime Voyages laat de Marco Polo op 17 december nog een stop maken in Antwerpen.

Normaal gezien komt de AIDAluna op woensdag 28 maart, om 8:00 uur aan in Antwerpen en vertrekt hij weer om 17:00 uur. Deze uren kunnen altijd nog veranderen! Eventuele wijzigingen worden op onze website gezet.

In just over 10 days the cruise season 2012 starts for Antwerp. Like the past two years a ship of AIDA Cruises will open the season. This year the AIDAluna has the honour. WIth a length of 252 meters it's also the biggest cruise ship this year. From the 28th of march the Luna will come 6 weeks, every wednesday. Do not miss these calls because after these the ships of AIDA Cruises are going to Zeebrugge for several years.

Originally there were also 4 calls of the AIDAmar on the cruise list, but they have been cancelled. But there is also good news. Normally the cruise season would stop in oktober this year, but Cruise & Maritime Voyages makes on the 17th of december an extra call in Antwerp with their Marco Polo.

Normally the AIDAluna is expected on the 28th of march, around 8:00am and the departure is at 17:00pm. These hours can still change! Any changes will be reported on our website.

Officiële cruisecalls Antwerpen 2012

Vanaf nu is op de website van Antwerpen en natuurlijk ook op onze website de lijst te vinden met de verwachtte cruiseaanlopen voor Antwerpen in 2012. Op de lijst staan momenteel 30 cruiseaanlopen, waarvan de 4 aanlopen van de AIDAmar nog niet bevestigd zijn. Deze calls zijn ooit aangevraagd bij Cruise Port Antwerp maar tot op de dag van vandaag nog altijd niet bevestigd. De kans dat het schip naar Antwerpen zal komen is zeer klein omdat het schip op die data in Noord-Europa vaart. Als de AIDAmar niet zou komen valt het aantal cruiseaanlopen terug op 26.

Dit jaar zitten er weer heel wat schepen bij die voor de allereerste keer onze stad aandoen. Deze schepen zijn: AIDAluna, Albatros, Amadea, Wind Surf, Star Flyer, Sorolla, MSC Lirica en misschien de AIDAmar.

Bij cruiseschip kenners zal de naam 'Sorolla' denkelijk niet direct bekend in de oren klinken. Geen zorgen, dat deed het bij ons ook niet! De MS Sorolla van 'Turkish Floating Exhibition' is een ferry die men heeft omgebouwd tot een grote tentoonstelling. Turkije wil toetreden tot de Europese Unie en willen op deze manier Europa warm maken voor hun land. Voor meer info over het schip en zijn reis vindt u op de website: http://www.yuzersergi.com/en/

Een andere opmerkelijk aanloop is die van de 'Explorer' van 'Semester at Sea'. Dit schip is geen cruiseschip maar een schoolschip. Men kan als leerling inschepen op dit schip en de wereld rondvaren terwijl men niets van zijn studies moet missen. Het schip lag in 2008 ook al in Antwerpen en momenteel staat er ook al een call voor 2013 gepland.

Voor de rest zijn het min of meer de zelfde schepen die terugkomen naar Antwerpen. Ook de Azamara Journey komt na een jaar van afwezigheid terug naar onze stad!

From this moment you can find the list of cruisecalls for Antwerp for 2012 on the website of Antwerpen and of course also on our website. At this moment there are 30 calls of the list, 4 of these are from the AIDAmar, but they aren't confirmed yet. There is a very small chance that the ship actually will come because it sails in Northern-Europe on those dates. When the ship doens't come to Antwerp the number of calls drops from 30 to 26.

This year there are a lot of cruise ships that will visit our city for the first time. These ships are:  AIDAluna, Albatros, Amadea, Wind Surf, Star Flyer, Sorolla, MSC Lirica and maybe the AIDAmar.

Under cruise ship-spotters the name 'Sorolla' will not ring a bell I think. Don't worry neighter did it with us! The MS Sorolla from 'Turkish Floating Exhibition' is a ferry wich is transformed into a big floating exhibition. An other special call is the 'Explorer' from 'Semester At Sea'. This ship isn't a normal cruise ship but it's a school ship. YOu can board as a student and sail around the world without missing a lesson. The ship came already to Antwerp in 2008 and for 2013 there is also a call planned of this ship.
The remaining calls are more or less the same ships that return to Antwerp. Also the Azamara Journey will come after a year of absence back to Antwerp!

Hierop vindt u foto's van alle riviercruiseschepen die het 'Cruiseschepen in Antwerpen-team' door de jaren heeft gezien. Het is wel niet de bedoeling de riviercruiseschepen intensief (gelijk de zeecruises) te gaan volgen. Als we een riviercruiseschip zien komen de foto's op de website!
