Op 6 oktober lag de MSC Lirica voor de tweede en laatste keer in Antwerpen voor dit jaar. Normaal gezien zou ook de Bremen aan de Scheldekaaien liggen, maar dit ging niet door omdat het schip beschadigingen had opgelopen aan zijn schroef.
De MSC Lirica had spijtig genoeg niet het allerbeste weer meegebracht. Desondanks had het schip toch veel aantrek bij de Antwerpenaren. De MSC Lirica heeft een lengte van 251 meter en is daarmee, op één meter na, het grootste cruiseschip voor dit jaar in Antwerpen ligt. De AIDAluna, die eerder dit jaar aanmeerde, had een totale lengte van 252 meter. Op volledige capaciteit kan de MSC Lirica 2100 passagiers vervoeren. Hoe indrukwekkend dit ook lijkt, hiermee is het schip één van de kleinere schepen van de rederij MSC Cruises. Binnenin is de Lirica een drijvend paleis dat alles biedt om de gasten tot het uiterste te verwennen tijdens hun cruise.
Ons team heeft dankzij een uitnodiging van MSC Cruises België een bezoek kunnen brengen aan dit prachtige schip. Om dit grote schip een beetje overzichtelijk te beschrijven zal ik dit dek per dek doen.

On the 6th of October the MSC Lirica was docked for the second time this year in Antwerp. Normally the Bremen was also expected but it has been cancelled due to damage at a propeller.
The MSC Lirica had not brought the best weather to Antwerp. Nevertheless the ship was very popular in Antwerp. The MSC Lirica has a length of 251 metres and is the second largest ship that came to Antwerp this year. The biggest was the AIDAluna with 252 metres. On full capacity the MSC Lirica can accommodate 2100 passengers. This may be impressive, but it is one of the smallest ships in the MSC-fleet. On the inside the Lirica is a floating palace that offers everything to pamper its guests during the cruise.
Our team was able to visit this beautiful ship thanks to an invitation from MSC Cruises België. To put structure in the review I will describe the ship deck by deck.
NL: Dek 5 - VERDI
Dit is één van de hoofddekken van het schip. Hier bevind zich onder meer de receptie, gelegen in het twee-dekken-hoge Atrium. Hier staan de vriendelijke receptionisten u graag te woord. Vooraan het schip vindt u de comfortabele 'Lord Nelson Pub' waar u in alle rust kan genieten van een drankje. Vanuit de pub is er een rechtstreekse doorgang naar het 'Broadway Theater'. Hierin kunnen 713 bezoekers plaatsnemen en genieten van een prachtige show. Als we terug meer naar de achtersteven van het schip lopen komen we voorbij de gezellige 'Beverly Hills Bar' waar de gasten 's avonds kunnen uitrusten bij pianomuziek. Op dit dek bevindt zich ook het 'La Bussola Restaurant'. Dit is een A la carte restaurant waar u de verfijnde Italiaans keuken opgediend krijgt. Wij hebben hiervan een driegangenmenu mogen proberen, wat ons zeer beviel.
EN: Deck 5 - VERDI
This is one of the main decks of the ship. Here you will find the reception, situated in the 2-decks-high Atrium. The friendly receptionists will answer all your questions there. In front of the ship is the comfortable 'Lord Nelson Pub' located. Here you can relax and enjoy a drink. The pub has a direct entrance to the 'Broadway Theatre'. This theatre has place for 713 visitors who can enjoy a spectacular show. If you walk further to the aft of the ship we pass the 'Beverly Hills Bar' where the guests can relax and enjoy some piano music. On this deck is the main restaurant also located: 'La Bussola Restaurant'. This is an A la carte restaurant where you get the finest Italian cuisine served. Our team tried a three course menu., and I must say that it was delicious.

Op dit dek is ook nog een ingang voor het 'Broadway Theater'. Het theater strekt zich namelijk uit over twee dekken. Ook het Atrium komt uit op dit dek. Daarrond is een gezellige kleine bar genaamd 'The Coffee Corner'. Hier voorbij bevindt zich 'Le Cabaret', een open zaal waar 's avonds cabaret en muziek gespeeld wordt. Voor diegene die hun geluk willen testen is het 'Las Vegas Casino' de perfecte plaats. Verder kan u de foto's die van U getrokken werden tijdens uw reis gaan afhalen in de 'Photo Shop'. Tussen de 'Photo Shop' en het casino bevindt zich ook nog 'L'atmosphère', een warm ingerichte bar.

On this deck there is another entrance to the 'Broadway Theatre'. The theatre is namely two decks high. The Atrium also stretches to this deck. Around the Atrium is a cosy bar named 'The Coffee Corner'. When you continue your tour you come at 'Le Cabaret'. This is an open lounge where cabaret and music can be performed. For those who want to test their luck there is the 'Las Vegas Casino'. In the 'Photo Shop' you can take a look at, and maybe buy at the photos that have been taken of you during the cruise. Between the 'Photo Shop' and the casino you'll find 'L'atmosphère', a bar with a warm interior.
NL: Dek 7 - SCARLATTI
Op dek 6 en 7 bevindt zich aan de zijkant van het schip het sloependek met een wandelpromenade op dek 6. Verder is ook de 'Lirica Lounge' te vinden op dek 7. Een zeer mooie ruimte waar verschillende kleine acts opgevoerd kunnen worden. Achteraan het schip bevinden zich ook enkele kajuiten.
EN: Deck 7 - SCARLATTI
On deck 6 and 7 you have on both sides of the ship the lifeboat deck with a promenade on deck 6. On this deck you will also find the Lirica Lounge. This is a a beautiful lounge where several small acts can be performed. Near the aft of the ship there are some cabines.
NL: Dek 8 - PAGANINI
Op dek 8 hebben we een binnenhut bezocht. Deze kleine hut is zeer basic maar heeft toch alles wat men nodig heeft. Een groot King-size bed, een klein bureau en een badkamer.

On deck 8 we visited an inside cabine. This small cabine is very basic but has everything you need on a cruise. A big King-size bed, a small desk and a bathroom.
NL: Dek 10 - BELLINI
Op dek 10 bevindt zich het grootste deel van de suites. Deze zijn zeer ruim en sfeervol ingericht. Daarbovenop hebben ze ook nog een groot eigen balkon waar u rustig, afgesloten van de drukte in het schip, een krant of boek kan lezen.
EN: Deck 10 - BELLINI
On deck 10 most of the suites are located. These have a warm interiour and a large balcony where you can relax, away from the other people in the ship. It's the perfect place to read your newspaper or a good book.
NL: Dek 11 - VIVALDI
Dit is het dek waar de zwembaden te vinden zijn. Tussen de zwembaden bevindt zich het 'SPA Bath' met twee jacuzzi's. Vooraan het schip is de 'MSC Aurea SPA' waar u zich kan laten verwennen. Helemaal vooraan het schip bevindt zich ook nog een fitnessruimte. Als we daarna terug naar achter lopen op het dek komen we aan 'La Pergola Open Restaurant' dat zich rond de schouw van het schip bevindt. Als we van hieruit nog verder lopen stappen we 'Le Bistrot Cafetaria' binnen. Dit is een restaurant met zicht over de achtersteven van het schip.
EN: Deck 11 - VIVALDI
This is the deck where the swimming pools are located. Between the two pools you'll find the 'SPA Bath' with two jacuzzi's. In the front of the ship there is also a fitness room. Close to the fitness you'll find the MSC Aurea SPA where you can take a relaxing massage, and many other treatments . If you walk again to the aft of the ship you see the 'La Pergola Open Restaurant' located around the funnel. When you walk further to the aft you enter 'Le Bistrot Cafetaria'. This is a restaurant that overlooks the aft of the ship.
NL: Zoals aan het begin van het artikel vermeld was het weer niet zo schitterend. Bij de aankomst van de MSC Lirica begon was het hard aan het regenen. Maar dit houdt de echte liefhebbers niet tegen om op post te staan om foto's te nemen. Bij het vertrek is de regen gelukkig weg gebleven. Met drie salvo's van de scheepshoorn nam het schip afscheid van Antwerpen en de tientallen kijklustigen die zich verzameld hadden op het Zuiderterras en het Flandria-ponton.
Volgend jaar komt MSC Cruises spijtig genoeg niet naar Antwerpen, maar voor 2014 is de kans veel groter dat ze opnieuw in onze stad aanmeren!

EN: As I mentioned in the beginning of the article the weather wasn't very good. The ship arrived in the pouring rain. But this doens't keep the ship lovers away. At the departure it was luckely dry. With three hornblast the MSC Lirica left Antwerp. On the Zuiderterras and the Flandria-pontoon there were many people to see this spectacle.
Next year MSC Cruises is not coming to Antwerp, but in 2014 the chance is much bigger for the ships to return to our city!
